- Puri Agung Karangasem
Puri Agung Karangasem is the royal palace of the Karangasem kingdom which is located in East Bali. Instead of being a single landmark, it is actually collectively several royal palaces which are positioned within a 100-meter radius of the capital town of Amlapura. There are 3 main locations in the town’s center: Puri Kaleran (to the north), Puri Gede (on the west), and the main Puri Agung complex.
This palace is still used for royal ceremonies and private events held by the extended royal family today. If you go inside through the inner courtyard, you will find old walls covered in various reliefs, towering redbrick gates, and historical black-and-white portraits of the late raja.
