Places to Visit in Central Jakarta : Educational and Entertaining Locations

1 – National Museum

The first one in these places to visit in Central Jakarta is the National Museum. The museum is mostly known for its iconic elephant at the entrance gate. The location of this museum is in the street of Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta. Here you can see about some educational and informational stuff like the historical heritages in the forms of ceramics, statues, and the traditional musical instruments.

2 – National Monument (Monas)

The tall monument is standing as an icon of the capital city. Monas has a height about 132 meters with the golden fire “burning” on top of it. Usually, people come to Monas for gathering purposes, including the New Year’s Eve.

3 – Pasar Baru

Another one in the places to visit in Central Jakarta is a location called Pasar Baru. Pasar Baru basically means the New Market. But this market is actually really old. Built during 1820, Pasar Baru was and still is the crowded market that visited by both domestic and foreign tourists. It has a structure which is the combination of European and Chines styles.

4 – Old Town Jakarta

The area that mostly used by the locals of Jakarta is still popular as gathering places for people of all ages. The adults can enjoy the historical trip by visiting the old buildings that still exist nearby, including the colonials building, while the teenagers can gather around with their group.

5 – Ismail Marzuki Park

Visiting park is not only useful for refreshing. We can also get some more things from it, like this park called Ismail Marzuki Park for example. The park is said to be the medium of art and culture. Ismail Marzuki park has about six different galleries plus the additional Planetarium for space viewing.

6 – Taman Prasasti Museum

If the park above that included on the list of places to visit in Central Jakarta is cool enough for you, wait till you visit the other called Taman Prasasti Museum. Just like its name, in this park, you can find different kinds of statue from the colonial era. They used them for cemetery accessories once, and somehow they look very scary during the night.

7 – Pecenongan

The next place on the list is Pecenongan. Almost the same as Pasar Baru, Pecenongan is also considered to be a very crowded place. The people of Jakarta usually refer to this location for hunting culinary during the night. You can almost have everything in here, especially the Indonesian meals like Tempe penyet or Lalapan Lele.

8 – Fatahillah Museum

9 – Taman Mini Indonesia Indah

As one of the best places to visit in Central Jakarta, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is the one you should visit. Even it has “Mini” in it, but it doesn’t look mini at all. In fact, the area is wide enough to fill with interesting stuff, including the miniature of islands in Indonesia. Entertaining yet very educational.

10 – Istiqlal Mosque

The mosque is so wonderful for the religious journey for any Muslim out there. It’s also the biggest mosque in South East Asia region that can hold up to two hundred thousand people.

11 – Cathedral Church

For the other religion, there’s also a unique Cathedral Church. The church is really famous for its interesting European design from the old time. The church opens for everyone.
