  1. West Bali National Park

About 2 kilometres from Gilimanuk port, there is West Bali National Park. It consists of dense forests, sea, beach, until beautiful mountain. There are also various floras and fauna inside this 77.000 hectares national park. The location of West Bali National Park is between two regencies, Buleleng and Jembrana.

There are many activity that you can do here, such as nature tourism, diving, etc. You can also see some attracting spot like Pulaki Temple, hot springs, coral reefs.

The special part of West Bali National Park, it is the captivity and also habitat of Bali starling. To enter this area, the ticket price is Rp 2.500 per person for local tourist, and Rp 20.000 per person for foreigner. The national park opens everyday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Central Indonesia Time.

You might have been familiar with Mount Rinjani in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. But some people may not know before that the area of Mount Rinjani is also a national park. It is Rinjani National Park, which located in the area of the highest mountain in Indonesia.

Rinjani National Park has been a national park since 1997. It covers 41.330 hectares area which consists of rain forest and savanna. This area confronts tropical floras and faunas from Southeast Asia and Australia. Visiting Rinjani National Park can be one of interesting things to do in Lombok with family or friends.

Some floras in Rinjani National Park are nettle, pterospermum, banyan, pine, edelweiss, and orchid. Some of the faunas are weasel, deer, langur, pangolin, black monkey, and hedgehog. Another interesting spot in Rinjani National Park is Lake Segara Anak.

This lake was formed after the volcano eruption of Mount Rinjani few hundred years ago. In the middle of the lake, there is a new mountain named Mount Baru Jari.

You can have interaction with local people too because there are closest villages, Sembalun Village and Senaru Village. Some activities to do here are hiking, enjoying the view in Plawangan Sembalun, having a night in tent, etc.

Besides Mount Rinjani, another mountain which is also famous among hikers is Mount Tambora. In this area there is also a national park called Tambora National Park. It is located in Dompu and Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.

It was officially declared as a national park in 2015, precisely on April 11th 2015, which is also 200 years after the huge eruption of Mount Tambora on April 11th 1815.

Tambora National Park consists of many floras, such as bayur, forest guava, binuang, wangkal, etc. There are also some species of fauna, such as yellow-crested cockatoo, lanius schach, punglor, etc. In Tambora National Park, you can get some activities such as hiking and exploring forest.

Flores, East Nusa Tenggara has been famous with its beautiful nature. In Flores theres is a national park called Kelimutu National Park. It has started becoming national park since October 10th 1997.

Kelimutu National Park is also known as the smallest national park in Bali and Nusa Tenggara region because the area is only 5.356 hectares. Kelimutu National Park is located between 3 sub-districts, Detsuko, Wolowaru, and Ndona.

This national park has many floras such as Begonia kelimutuensis, Rhododendron renschianum, and pine. There are also some faunas like mountain rat, wild chicken, bull, and deer. Inside Kelimutu National Park there is the legend Lake Kelimutu which is popular as Three-Color Lake.

There are many things you should do in Kelimutu National Park. Some attractive things you can see here are the manufacture of ikat and cultural attraction in Moni Village where is not too far from Kelimutu National Park.

The last which is one of the most popular national park in Indonesia is Komodo National park. This national park is located in Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara. It was established in 1980. It was officially declared as World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1986.

It covers more than two thousand hectares area. The main function of this national park is to be the preservation habitat of komodo.

You can have many things to do in Komodo National Park, such as seeing komodo. Besides komodo, there are some other species here such as dolphin, shark, sea turtle, etc.

The komodo itself are only 2.500 in this national park. For your information, komodo is a rare carnivorous reptile which can only be found in Indonesia. Its length is about 2 to 3 metres, and its weight reaches 165 kilograms.
