12 Things to Do in Klungkung Bali Indonesia (Beautiful)

Maybe the name “Klungkung” is a little bit strange for you. Klungkung regency is the smallest district in the province of Bali, Indonesia. The capital is in Semarapura. Klungkung borders with Bangli regency in the north, Karangasem regency in the east, Gianyar regency in the west and with the Indian Ocean to the south.

1. Kerta Gosa and Taman Gili

Kertha Gosa was once part of the complex of Klungkung royal building. Klungkung royal complex was built in 1686 by the first holder of power, Ida I Dewa Agung Jambe. But in 1908, almost all of Klungkung royal buildings were destroyed due to the Dutch colonial invasion.

The main thing that became the attraction of Kerta Gosa garden attractions is the architecture of the building that characterizes the typical architecture of the Bali in 17th century. The beauty of architecture is mainly seen in the building of Bale Kambang, which is surrounded by a pool called Gili Park.

3. Pesinggahan Village

Pesinggahan is the name of a village as well as a tourist spot in Klungkung located in Klungkung regency which is adjacent with Karangsem regency. When you know the attraction of Goa Pura Lawah, there is where Pesinggahan located. In addition to having Pura Goa Lawah, Pesinggahan Village is a village that holds the beauty of the beach that has outstanding beauty. So it is good if you have a plan to visit here.

In the village of Pesinggahan is also famous for its “lesehan” satay fish stalls because in the village there are some typical lesehan stalls pesinggahan like Pancaboga, Merta Sari, Baruna, Rahayu and so forth. 4. Semarajaya Museum

Fused with the attractions area of Kertha Gosa, there is a museum called Semarajaya museum. The location of the Semarajaya museum is in the western part of the Bale Kambang building. You only need to walk about 1 minute from Bale Kambang to reach Semarajaya museum location.

Semarajaya museum building was built by the Dutch government, after the kingdom of Klungkung lost in Puputan war. The attractions in museums that you can see are the prehistoric objects and weapons used in Puputan war of Klungkung. In addition, you can also see photos of the king of Klungkung before the war. However, this place has administration fee of 5.000 rupiahs for adults and 2.000 for kids. Also, it opens from Tuesday – Sunday, at 9 am until 4 pm. So be sure to visit it before too late!

5. Nyoman Gunarsa Museum

Nyoman Gunarsa Classic Art Museum is an art museum located on a strategic lane or precisely located on the Banda Tiger Band Takmung Village, or approximately 3 Km from West Semarapura. The shape of the building in the Museum is a blend of modern Balinese architecture.

Nyoman Gunarsa Museum, is a place of tourism in klungkung which is divided into 2 main sections, namely place for collection of classical painting of Bali and place of modern painting of Bali. Those two places present two different collections of painting. To enter this artful museum, you need to pay about 25.000 rupiahs. Also, this venue opens from Monday – Saturday on 9 am until 4 pm. 6. Japanese Cave

Japan cave is a cave of the Japanese Government built at the beginning of colonization in 1941 until 1942. On the cliff wall there is a river Tukad Bubuh flowing. There are at least 16 holes in the Japanese cave here which has a length of about 14 meters with a width of approximately 2 meters. Its decorated with moist walls. Looks a little creepy.

Be careful to enter this place, its suggested to bring at least someone with you. 2 or 3 party will be enough. Also, its free to visit, so you can visit here any time you want. Better come here at noon or morning, because the sunlight will help you through your journey in here.

9. Melangit River

One of the most beautiful and popular tourist attractions in Klungkung is the rafting tour with the depth of 4 m from the beautiful Melangit River. 11. Semarapura Market

The art market is not only exist in Sukawati or in Ubud, but also in Klungkung district. The location of the art market in Klungkung district is located in the center of Semarapura town, precisely to the east of the parking lot of Kertha Gosa. Semarapura city art market is better known among tourists who like Endek cloth, as well as Balinese songket.

Endek cloth and typical songket cloth of Klungkung, still produced by traditional way of using human power. So the amount of fabric production that can be produced is not much, making the price of the fabric Endek and Klungkung songket cloth is very expensive.
