Banjarmasin is  well-known as a city of a thousand river.  It is a capital city  of South Kalimantan,  Indonesia. The majority population in Banjarmasin is  Islam. 1. Sultan Suriansyah Mosque

The first of many things to do in Banjarmasin South Kalimantan Indonesia is visiting this mosque. Sultan Suriansyah Mosque was build in the era of Sultan Suriansyah administration in the year of 1526 – 1550. It is the mosque that has traditional architecture, and also historical story of Islam in this region.

Another uniqueness of this mosque is because it has architecture style of  The Great Mosque of Demak. So, It is  influenced by an old Javanese style. The Sultan Suriansyah Mosque is the oldest Mosque in Banjarmasin which  is also stated as a cultural heritage on 1 September 1978.

2. The Great Mosque of Sabilal Muhtadin

The second mosque that also has a form of Tourism attraction is The Great Mosque of Sabilal Muhtadin. This mosque was build as an Honor for Ulama Syekh Muhammad Arsyad Al-Banjari in era 1710 – 181

The Mosque was build in the city center of Banjarmasin. So, if you visit Banjarmasin, you will be welcomed by the Great Mosque of Sabilal Muhtadin in the center of the city.

The front area of the mosque has a fountain pond, and it is surrounded by plants and trees. They make the environtment of the mosque keep fresh and beautiful. 3. Angsana Beach

After you get religious visit to the oldest mosque and the biggest mosque, The Sultan Suriansyah mosque and The Great Mosque of Sabilal Muhtadin respectively. 4. Joras Beach

The second beach that you must visit in Banjarmasin is Joras beach. Joras beach  has a light  house. Just take the stairs up, and you can see the beauty of Joras beach from this point. You can also feel the wind that touch your face amazingly. Come to this beach, you will get twice as enjoyable.

Like Angsana beach, Joras beach has a quay that make you to see deep  blue see form the edge of the quay. Just take a pose and turn somersaults with the light house background from it. Definitely you will get the best photo.

5. Sungai Pampan Beach

Still in line with Joras beach, Sungai Pampan beach has a large beach sand. bring your volley ball or foot ball to this beach. You will make your day energizer after doing sport. The beach has also a calmness surroundings  and natural green view.

You just need to pay Rp.8000/person. It is very cheap. If you bring vehicle with you, you only pay Rp. 5000 for your car, and Rp. 3000 for motorcycle. Feel the summer breeze and get tanned!

6. Birah – birahan Island

For you who name yourselves a real adventure, then you must visit this island. Yes, It is Birah – birahan island where the adventurers get amazing and wonderful experiences if they step in their feet to this white sand island.

First, you need to go to Kenyamukan quay. Here you must rent a fisher man boat with the price from Rp. 500.000 to Rp. 1.000.000. But please don’t be over load of passengers. Just bring 25 persons on the boat to reach the island. And don’t forget to bring your snorkeling and diving equipment. You will be amazed with the wonderful coral reef.

7. Samber Gelap Island

Actually, this island is near Birah -birahan island. It is located in Kotabaru Regency. Here, you can rent a speed boat to come to the island. You just need to pay the entrance fee for Rp. 10.000. This island has sea turtle conservation, so you can learn how the sea turtles grows.

After you see the sea turtle conservation, it is time for you to do snorkeling. Similar to Birah – birahan Island, Samber Gelap island also has amazing coral reef that will blow your mind. It is such a natural beautiful environment that the island has. That is why this island to be a favorite island for snorkeler and diver.

8. Frangipani Park

Frangipani Park, or in Bahasa Indonesia means Taman Kamboja, is a park that has jogging track for the local who wants to jog in the morning. The tower becomes new icon of Banjarmasin Tourism. It is located in the bank of Martapura river. As I told you before, Banjarmasin floating market is the unique traditional market in Banjarmasin. This market is on Barito river. The buyer and the seller from this market use a small wooden boat, called Jukung. So, they do buy and sell activity using their own  Jukung.  That is the uniqueness from this market.

There are a lot of crops that are available to be sold. You can get fresh vegetable and fruit here. Besides,  you can taste your breakfast on the boat, while bargaining the things you want to.
